The Gate

I got asked to take a few photos of my local pub so they could use them for promotional work. Here's one I'm particularly pleased with as the lighting was so difficult. I ended up taking 3 exposures, one being 1 stop up and another being 2 stops down so that I could get some detail in the window area. I then merged them together in Photoshop.

That's really great Mike...I wouldn't have known it was an HDR shot if you hadn't said. Sometimes these type of photos can work out really false looking but this is great!

Which software did you use by the way - was it just Photoshop alone or did you use a plug-in?

It wasn't an HDR. I took two photos, one was metered for inside the pub and the second metered for the patio doors. I then simply layered the two photos in Photoshop, created a layer mask and blended the correctly (or nearly correctly) exposed window into the other photo, ie the correctly exposed room. All I did then was warm the image up a little.
