EYES WIDE SHUT from The library of my soul, United KingdomThis has such a timeless feel, Mike. Lava lamps were the latest craze back in the early seventies, and in mono, this photograph feels so retro. I can remember family gatherings where we sat around staring in wonder as the globules rose and fell (hey, no Playstation 3 back then!). Wonderfully observed, a really terrific image 7 Jan 2009 8:08am Laurie from New Jersey, United StatesYes the house is so quiet now. My oldest went back to his post in Georgia, my middle son still has a couple of weeks before he returns to his dorm and my youngest is back in school as of Monday. The stillness is really lonely now. This is a charming and nostalgic shot. Nicely done. 7 Jan 2009 3:59pm ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United StatesA good range of tones. best...jerry 7 Jan 2009 9:21pm Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomGood B&W image, nice balanced tones. 7 Jan 2009 10:37pm Stephen Phillips from San Francisco, United StatesA splendid study, Mike. Is that a lava lamp?? 8 Jan 2009 1:11am @Linerberry: It sure is. bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaSuch a beautiful portrait, I love the concentration. Wonderful candid shot. 8 Jan 2009 5:49am @bluechameleon: Don't be fooled. She was trying not to laugh. The photo was about retake number 10 and I was virtually standing on my head.... That's why things are slightly on the slant. I've since corrected that in Photoshop though :) Inés from Namur, BelgiumTendre portrait qui me renvoie à mes souvenirs, ceux du temps des études. 8 Jan 2009 6:41am roentarre from Melbourne, Australiawow, the light is fantastic in deed! Excellent focus 8 Jan 2009 7:37am Anthony Lambert from Bielefeld, GermanyA lovely warm image, hasn´t this little lady been on the blog before ? 9 Jan 2009 7:42am @Anthony Lambert: She has indeed. This one is my youngest daughter. My eldest is the one wearing the Christmas hat from a few days ago. Edward James from New Hampshire, United StatesI love the clutter. Makes it feel like she's really rushing to get stuff done. I really like the angle you took this at. I love the light the lava lamp gives off and how it illuminates her face and the bed behind her. It's a perfect story telling image. Great work. I appreciate the comment you left for me. Thanks Mike. 11 Jan 2009 1:46pm yiannis krikis from thessaloniki, Greeceexcellent image - the lighting and the atmosphere are great 11 Jan 2009 6:21pm Azarakhsh from tehran, Irangreat shot . it reminds me my school works when i was a child. 11 Jan 2009 6:41pm Emilio Garcia from Pleasanton, United StatesTimeless beauty to this splendid B&W photograph.
