Stephen Phillips from San Francisco, United StatesGood use of these graceful shapes in this setting, Mike. Nice. 4 Apr 2009 3:11pm P J W Miller from Chase Terrace, United KingdomNot a bad image, nice tones and detail. Could be improved (I think) by removing the lines and cloning out the building at the back behind the tower. Slightly blurred in the foreground with a distracting line in the water running towards the towers. besides that, good industrial landscape styly 4 Apr 2009 3:31pm @P J W Miller: I've managed to sort out the issues and have uploaded the better version. observing from North West, United KingdomThese cooling towers look very close to the river Mike, concrete monsters closing in on nature. I like the BW. 4 Apr 2009 9:58pm bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaBeautiful composition! These tones are so nice and smooth...love the way the towers shine. 5 Apr 2009 3:23am DarkElf from Perth, Australiagreat b&w composition - the tonal range seems perfect for this type of a photo! everything in the shot is nicely defined and your composition is great as well! 5 Apr 2009 2:11pm Anthony Lambert from Bielefeld, GermanyI´ve never been this far up the River Severn(crossing the bridge into Wales is about the limit for me) I may have to change that fact soon looking at this great view !! 5 Apr 2009 3:09pm k@ from Paris, FranceThe dialogue between Mother Nature and our Industrialisation is strong in this quiet yet full of message pic ! 7 Apr 2009 6:30am sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesYou've done an incredible job of mixing the power plant in with the landscape. By using greyscale it softens the blow of what mankind does...if you know what I mean. I really like this image. 7 Apr 2009 12:21pm EYES WIDE SHUT from The library of my soul, United KingdomBeauty and the beast. A wonderful composition and choice of mono. Could have been used by the company as a PR shot to show how they integrate into the countryside, so accomplished is the composition. A superb shot, Mike 7 Apr 2009 12:26pm @EYES WIDE SHUT: Interesting you should say that. When the power station was built it won design awards for it's blending into the environment. I'm not sure of the finer details, they've been lost in the back of my mind somewhere. Wiki has all its history if you're interested. Godo from Barcelona, SpainGreat compo again 7 Apr 2009 4:09pm Andy from United StatesThe beauty of nature combined with the "progress" of mankind. Really nice composition! 7 Apr 2009 4:19pm Laurie from New Jersey, United StatesThis is an excellent view. The cooling towers seem to fit in with the landscape. I've always found the lines of them to be very graceful. 7 Apr 2009 4:31pm Veronelle from Lens, Francegreat b&w, composition ! ( nuclear is bad for the planet !) 7 Apr 2009 7:17pm @Veronelle: Don't worry, I mentioned to you on my last photo that this wasn't a nuclear power station. It's fuelled by coal and is actually due to close down in about three years time. |
