i like the darker blacks -- but for some reason prefer the more vertical framing... hmm... was trying to think why i feel this way. not sure - will get back to you!! still, a gorgeous shot!

I like square crops. One thing I've found is that they often make no appreciable different to a shot - which seems like a crazy statement. They obviously change the composition, but they rarely change the mood, or express something different about an image. In this case, as with a lot of my own, I don't really have a preference between the two. Presentation is all important, and what I do find is that sets of images usually work best if the presentation is consistent. So if working on a set of images I very often find that a square crop is hard to beat. If I stick to an out of camera format I'll often have both tall and wide shots, and they don't necessarily work well together.
