I think yesterday's post had the edge personally, but I'd be pleased to have produced this picture. :-)

I'm loving the drama but I agree with Nigel, yesterday's was better compositionally. I don't know but this looks as though it was crying out for the longest exposure you could manage, (just to see how much it smooths everything out.)

@Curly: It's interesting how people see things differently. For me this photo is a far better composition than the last one. I agree a 2 or 3 minute exposure would have been awesome here.
Very nice shot !! A great B & W !!!

Absolutly apocalyptic. I love this "end of the world" mood Mike ! Utterly scary but how effective.

@zOOm: It's only water vapour forming clouds....... could be a lot worse :)

This is really amazing. I love how the dark, dirty cloud is spreading over the wild life. Gorgeous image.

@RPepper: Thank you. It's not very often you see the cooling towers producing plumes like this and I was quite lucky to get it on a windy day too.
Fantastic photo, great in B+W!

It's a good job that most of that is steam and not the smokestack on the right!
6 Dec 2009 11:13pm
That's some powerful smoke pouring out of the stacks!

Something has gone terribly wrong... and the worst is yet to come. Brilliant shot Mike.

Beautiful BW, this sky is more and more distubing

very good image.

I like the way the smoke and the sky crisscross each other. The positioning of that cross is good. It captures the eye immediately. Yesterdays post draws you in more because of the path leading up but I think more sky makes this one more dramatic. The power station seems more mighty and evil in this one. Which to me makes it a better picture.

i love the interplay between the heavy clouds and the hot steamy vapor from the powerplant!!

terrific composition. a gorgeous b&w image.

Breathtaking has never been more correct for a foto than here. Perfect and voted 5*

Great how the steam loses definition and begins to blend into the clouds - not sure a long exposure would have had the same impact. Really like the mood of this one.
